Kingsley Kuku, outgoing Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme for the Niger Delta
They were taken into custody early today and are still being quizzed by a team of operatives at the headquarters of the EFCC in the Wuse area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The source disclosed that the arrest of the suspects is in continuation of the Commission’s investigation of the tenure of Kingsley Kuku as head of the Presidential Amnesty Office. Kuku has been out of the country since news of the investigation leaked in the media, ostensibly on medical grounds.
Although details of their infraction was still sketchy as of press time, it was gathered that they are being grilled over issues of contract scams running into billion of naira, as their companies are alleged to have underperformed after collecting heavy mobilization fees from the Amnesty office. In some of the cases, almost 95 percent of the contract value was paid the contractors, yet the structures on ground are a far cry from the amount collected.
It is also being alleged that most of the contracts did not follow due process. Among the contracts affected include the ones for the vocational training centers in Ondo and Bayelsa State.
Some of the companies manipulated in the alleged scam include, Delse Project Limited, Masterpiece Construction Company Limited, Eternity Consult Limited, Zomy Civil Construction Limited and Tolsega Consul Nigeria Limited. Others are Stracosplan, Sourme Global Creations limited, Riddle Construction Limited and Revelation Pact Limited.
