Protesters In Bauchi Demand Release Of Sheikh Zakzaky

On Sunday 17th January, 2016, members of the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Bauchi Chapter trooped out of the streets to voice out their anger and call for the immediate release of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky who has been in detention for more than a month.


The protest which began at 4 o-clock local time consisted of various students during which they told reporters that there is no reason for the continued detention of their leader and they would not relent protesting until they secured the release of their spiritual leader. The demonstration which took place at Wunti Roundabout, Bauchi. organised by memebes of the Academic forum of the Islamic Movement Bauchi chapter.

Attracted the participation of hundreds of students as well as dozens of sympathisers who were of the opinion that it is illegal to detain a person without any reason.

The protest was led by Musa Bayi, who confided to reporters that " we will only stop the protest if our leader is released unconditionally".
