Gwen Stefani, 46, is taking things into her own hands! She’s so in love with and thankful for her man, Blake Shelton, 39, that she’s over waiting around for him to pop the question — so she did it herself, a new report claims. Get the scoop on the reported proposal right here!
This all went down days ahead of his hosting gig at the Kids’ Choice Awards, before she left on a short trip to Japan in mid-March. “He was in shock,” Life & Style reports, regarding the proposal.
But it didn’t stop him from saying yes! The No Doubt singer set up a romantic dinner for her man at her house, which is when she decided to ask him to marry her, the mag’s source says.
“She had been talking to friends about reversing roles and popping the question to Blake for weeks now, but she was still nervous,” the insider explains.
But the amount of love she has for the country singer is no surprise — she sings about how he “saved” her after her divorce on multiple songs on her album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like, and despite originally trying to keep things secret, the two aren’t subtle about their feelings for one another.
“[Blake] is so glad she surprised him — that’s what he loves about her!” the insider says. “Blake has done some ‘almost’ proposals since they started dating last year. They have had long, romantic walks on their trips to Oklahoma, and they have talked a lot about marriage, but there hadn’t been a formal proposal until now.”
Speaking of trips to Oklahoma, Gwen’s actually visiting Blake in his home state right now! She took her sons to the midwest for Spring Break, and they’ve been hiking, fishing and spending time on the lake throughout the trip.
We love that the boys get along so well with Blake! Don’t forget, though — Gwen’s divorce from Gavin Rossdale, 50, still isn’t finalized, so that’ll be a slight hitch in any wedding plans the couple starts to make. It’ll be quite a waiting game…
