She was completely unknown before her 2003 sex tape with Ray J hit the web, but did Kim Kardashian, 35, actually plan the whole thing?!
That’s what Ian Halperin is claiming in his new tell-all book, Kardashian Dynasty, and he seems to have a significant amount of proof. Could Kim really have put herself through all this just for fame?!
“A mutual friend of Kim and Paris [Hilton] had advised her that if she wanted to achieve fame, a sex tape would be the way to go,” Ian writes in the book, citing an ‘adult film industry’ source, according to Page Six. “Kim had discussed the idea of producing a tape with her family beforehand.”
Never one to shy away from making a name for herself, Kris Jenner is allegedly the one who pushed her daughter to really take the next step. “It was Kris who engineered the deal behind the scenes and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day,” a friend of Kim’s claims in the tell-all.
The raunchy video was released through Vivid Entertainment, and a spokesperson for the company told Ian that it was brought to them by a third party, and then the Kardashian family was contacted.
The rep explained that usually families are told that the tape is probably going to leak anyway, so it would just make sense for them to hop on-board and work with Vivid to get paid.
“So why not work for us, and we’ll make sure that it will not only get out, but that it will be distributed the way you want,” the spokesperson allegedly added. “You’ll get a nice payment for it. I can tell you right now, Kim Kardashian’s movie came out in ’07 and she’s made millions.”
A rep for the 35-year-old reality star told Page Six that all these accusations are totally “false.”
Kim has yet to comment personally on these claims, but she did recently bring up her sex tape after she was attacked for posting a completely naked selfie online at the beginning of March. “It always seems to come back around to my sex tape,” she wrote on her website. “Yes, a sex tape that was made 13 years ago. 13 YEARS AGO. Literally that lonnng ago.
And people still want to talk about it?! I have been through enough embarrassment and fear and decided to say, who cares, do better, move on. I shouldn’t constantly have to be on the defense, listing off my accomplishments just to prove that I am more than something that happened 13 years ago.”
