Drake fans, this is not a drill! The 29-year-old rapper dropped two surprise jams on April 5, and they’re both going to seriously amp up your day.
“One Dance” has all of the soft singing and groove you need to dance while “Pop Style” brings Kanye West, 38, and Jay Z, 46, on board to spit some serious bars. Hear them both for yourself, here!
Okay, we couldn’t have asked for a better surprise. The new Drake songs are fire, and we can’t stop listening! Fans were shocked when the rapper released not one, but two songs on April 5, and we can already tell they’re both about to take over the airwaves.
First, let’s chat about “One Dance.” Drake sets aside his rhymes and SINGS for the entire song, and he sounds velvety smooth and amazing. His voice his perfectly complimented by WizKid and Kyla, who are featured on the track.
We’re going to go ahead and say his time working on “Work” with Rihanna definitely inspired this song, which has a similar tropical, chill dance vibe.
We can’t forget “Pop Style”! The second new song is definitely more in Drake’s typical vein of rap music, and it’s amped up even more by Kanye and Jay Z, who are calling themselves “The Throne” on the song, (a nod to their collab album Watch The Throne, surely).
This jam is definitely grittier, with some fire rapping and serious beats. Clearly there’s no bad blood with Kanye for saying he’s got a better pool than him in his last single “Summer Sixteen.”
