St James's Park tube station was closed for a short while this morning while officers investigated and cordoned off an area near the Metropolitan Police's headquarters.

Pictures emerged online of the bomb disposal robot in action during the incident, which took place at 9.50am. Police said they were stood down at 10.30am.
Andrew Neather tweeted: 'Holy cow - police have closed off Broadway and sent this bomb disposal robot towards PO opposite New Scotland Yard.'

Another Twitter user, Gminus, who posted a picture of a black rucksack abandoned on the pavement and said: 'Suspect backpack found outside Scotland Yard.'
All Circle and District line services did not stop at St James Park during this period.
A spokeswoman for Transport for London said that the station was now open as normal again.
