Two Syrians cleared of raping girl, 18, at a home for migrants after court hears she 'forced herself' on them after being invited back to their hostel for an after party

Two Syrians have been cleared of raping an 18-year-old girl at a home for migrants.

Maidstone Crown Court, in Kent, heard that the woman 'forced herself' on Ahmed Naeem, 18, and a 17-year-old boy after being invited back to their hostel for an after party.

The girl was two time over the drink drive limit at the time of the incident. She claimed she was raped for three years by four men, in the Gillingham hostel, which housed migrants

After the eight-day trial, Naeem was today cleared of one count against him and the 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was cleared of two.

The teenagers were accused of being involved in a gang rape with their friends after allegedly luring the girl and her friend back to their home in the early hours of November 1, 2015.

The girl was two time over the drink drive limit at the time of the incident. She claimed she was raped for three hours by four men, in the Gillingham hostel, which housed migrants.

During their trial, Naeem's defence was that the girl forced herself on him and that he did not want to have sex with her because it was against his religion, but ultimately did.
The 17-year-old, who told the court he had come to the UK in August 2014 from Syria, also admitted sleeping with the girl, but said it was her that instigated it.

After more than eight hours and 50 minutes of deliberating, the jury of five women and seven men today found the teens not guilty. Pictured is Maidstone Crown Court in Kent

He said after their five-minute session she tried to make him stay, but he was too embarrassed and left.
Naeem did not give any evidence at his trial.
