He attacked both of his victims - an elderly man and a young woman - on the same day and without any provocation.
In the identity sketch released by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department - the attacker is wearing a hat and sunglasses, with a goatee beard.

Witnesses described the man as being between 50 and 60 years old, and approximately 5'8 to 6 feet tall.
In the first attack, police said he walked up to the 63-year-old man in east Los Angeles and hit him on the head with a hammer before kicking the man when he fell to the ground.
The second attack, which happened hours later, followed a similar pattern - he hit a 23-year-old woman several times on the head with the hammer until she was unconscious and the attacker fled in a dark pickup truck.
Both victims were taken to hospital and are said to be in serious condition.
In a statement the police said the suspect weighs between 200 and 240 pounds, is believed to have fled in a 1990’s dark colored Toyota Tacoma, extended cab and wore a hat, sunglasses, a blue wind breaker, brown cargo shorts and white shoes.

A woman who wanted to remain anonymous, told LA TV KTLA 5 that she recognized the man from the sketch and said that he had threatened her with a hammer in LA district of El Sereno on Monday.
