We can’t believe this! Amber Heard, 30, filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, 52, on May 22, after just over a year of marriage. To make matters worse, Johnny’s mom has just died two days before the split. So sad! Here’s what we know so far.
Wow, this is so devastating! Johnny and Amber seemed like the perfect quirky/edgy/cool couple, and we’ve never seen them anything but happy together, so TMZ’s report that they had filed for divorce on May 22 totally blew our minds!
Amber was the one to officially end the marriage, and she cited “irreconcilable differences” in the paper work. Even though they’ve only been married for a little over a year (their wedding was in Feb. 2015), the stunning actress is asking for spousal support. There was no prenup signed before the marriage. Johnny appears to be gearing up for battle though, as he hired famous celeb divorce lawyer Laura Wasser to fight the spousal support request.
To make sad news even sadder, Johnny’s mother Betty Sue Palmer had just passed away from a long illness two days before Amber filed for divorce. Things must have been really bad for her to leave her actor beau at such a dark time! On top of that, his film Alice Through The Looking Glass also opens on May 27. Those solo premieres are sure to be painful!
The duo has been through a lot together in the past year. They faced prison in Australia together when they smuggled their two puppies Boo and Pistol into the country without declaring them to avoid a mandatory quarantine. Just one month ago in April, the pair released a PSA video talking about Australian’s fragile ecosystem as penance. Still no word on who gets to keep the pups.
