Snoop Dogg Bashes ‘Roots’ Miniseries: ‘I’m Sick Of This Sh-t’

When the History Channel decided to recreate ‘Roots,’ they had to know that there may be some backlash — and that’s what happened! Watch Snoop Dogg’s dark video that he posted in response
.

Malachi Kirby played an amazing Kunta Kinte and was joined with an incredible cast for the Roots remake, including Anna Paquin, Forest Whitaker, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Laurence Fishburne. However, not everyone thought so highly about night one of the mini-series.

Snoop Dogg appears to be personally offended by the remake, and explains why (via a ton of expletives) in an Instagram video.
“I don’t understand America. They just want to keep showing the abuse that we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. But guess what? We’re taking the same abuse,” he says. “Think about that part. When you all going to make a (expletive) series about the success that black folks is having. The only success we have is Roots and 12 Years A Slave?”

He also calls on others to boycott as well. “F—k them television shows. Let’s create our own sh-t based on today,” he says. “How we live and how we inspire people today. Black is what’s real.” With that, he cuts to his cat, Jules.

Overall, night one of Roots seemed to get a quite the reaction!

Yvette Nicole Brown took to Twitter to thank co-executive producer LeVar Burton. “My thanks to you, #MarkMWolper & all the other creatives behind #Roots. This re-telling is everything. Every. Dang. Thing,” she tweeted.

Gabby Sibide also tweeted, and appeared that she wasn’t a fan. “Watching #Roots. I’m about to have an attitude for the rest of the year,” she wrote. “Y’all wouldn’t believe how many people I had to block after tweeting about #Roots once!”
