Could this story get any sadder? We’ve now learned that Kevin James Loibl, 27, the man who killed the extremely talented Christina Grimmie, 22, had a violent past prior to committing the horrifying murder. Here’s what we know about his disturbing history.
It was already devastating that Christina had been senselessly murdered, but it’s even more upsetting to learn that it could have been avoided. This wasn’t Kevin’s first display of violence by any means, and now we’re learning more about his disturbing past.
TMZ reports that the cops had been called to Kevin’s home on multiple occasions over the years. In 2013, police responded to the Loibl household when Kevin and his dad’s fiancee Dawn got into an altercation that ended with him breaking her wrist by slamming a door on it. However at the time, Dawn was heavily intoxicated and couldn’t tell if it was intentional or not, so no charges were pressed.
There were other instances of violence in Kevin’s life as well. The cops were called yet again in 2014, when his father and Dawn got into an argument. The police left without filing any charges, but it shows that Kevin was surrounded by tumult, which may be the root of why he showed up to Christina’s Orlando concert on June 10 packing two guns and a hunting knife to kill her.
The young man also killed himself after Christina’s brother tackled him to try to save her. Clearly, Kevin’s family feels immense sorrow for the Grimmie family, and even taped a message to their front door stating: “Deepest sorrow for lost [sic] to the family, friends & fans of the very talented, loving Christina Grimmie. No other comments.”
