Better button up, because summer is going to be a cool one, thanks to Kanye West. Yeezy just dropped the new single from his eagerly awaited Cruel Winter, a compilation that’s been four years in the making!
It’s only been a handful of months since Ye released his epic The Life Of Pablo album, but it seems Yeezy is just getting started. Ye kicked off the Summer of Kanye on June 3, appearing on Los Angeles’ Real 92.3, sharing his new single from Cruel Winter. The song that Ye shared with radio DJ Big Boy – which is still untitled – is, according to Consequence of Sound, “a monster” of a track.
Of course this track is a monster! It features some of the dopest names in hip-hop today. Big Sean, 28, is there, helping get everyone to go “round and round.” Desiigner, 19, who was last seen getting shoved by Justin Bieber, 22, (one of Yeezy’s favorite people), also makes an appearance. He’s joined by 2 Chainz, 38, Quavo, 25, and Yo Gotti, 35. Travis Scott, 24, the one-time love interest of Ye’s “FourFiveSeconds” collaborator, Rihanna, 28, is also on this song. Wow.
The track gets turned up to the max thanks to the fresh-out-of-jail Gucci Mane, 36. Gucci, who released “First Day Out Tha Feds” on his — appropriately enough — first day since he was released from prison, is also a part of this new track. This song is “the Avengers of Rap,” according to Kanye. “We’re going to do a version of that song with 12 or 15 minutes, everybody,” he said, per The Fader. Damn!
Cruel Winter is the eagerly-anticipated follow-up to G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer, which was released all the way back in 2012. Yeezy’s fans have been waiting for this second compilation, and were given a head’s up that this was coming thanks to Big Sean previewing Ye’s verse on Snapchat, per Billboard. Seems all these rumors of this upcoming track were true! Now, will this album’s cover art also feature a topless Kim Kardashian, 35 look-alike or will Yeezy get the real thing?
Now that Ye gave fans a tease, when will the album drop? “We might mix it a couple more times before we release it for sale and everything,” Kanye said. Well, since fans have been waiting for four years, they can be patient for a little while longer.
