Lionel Messi, 28, showed the world why he is perhaps the best soccer player ever to step onto the pitch. Every player on the US team lined-up in front of Messi who stood 25 yards from the goal. The master then perfectly kicked the ball over every defenders head, past the goalie and gently into the upper corner of the goal post. Wow. The goal was the second of the night for the Argentinian team who would go on to shut out the hosting Americans 4-0 in the Copa America Semi-final match. The kick was pure beauty and put Messi in the record books as the all-time leading scorer for his native land Argentina.
The kick was spot on! As in, it was perfect, stunning to behold, a feat of pure athleticism and a joy to watch for any fan of sports. When Messi placed his penalty kick into the back of the net the world took notice to Messi’s 55th career international goal. The kick pushed Messi pass Gabriel Batistuta for a new Argentina record. It was also Messi’s fifth score in Copa America after his hat trick, off the bench against Panama. The ball gently touched the goal posts as it soared in, check it out!
