Rachel Roy Avoids Beyonce & Jay Z At CFDA Awards: Flees Event Upon Family’s Arrival

It looks like Rachel Roy was not about to have a run in with a queen bee! The designer reportedly left the CFDA Awards Monday night right when Bey arrived!

Rachel Roy strutted her stuff down the carpet at the CFDA Awards on June 6 — but totally skipped the awards portion of the night upon Beyonce‘s arrival with Jay Z and Blue Ivy!
“She disappeared with her place card and never came back,” a source told Page Six about Rachel at the CFDA Awards, calling the sighting “weird.” “I don’t know if it was because she’s ‘Becky,’ or what?”

Rachel’s friend actually told the paper that she left the show because she had an early flight the following weekend.

Of course, this follows reports that Rachel Roy was “Becky with the good hair,” referenced in Beyonce’s Lemonade. Oddly enough, Bey and her family hit the red carpet at the Awards, making it their first appearance as a family on a carpet since the release of her controversial song. Plus, Bey went on to win the Fashion Icon award, so it’s probably good Rachel didn’t stick around for that.

Rachel actually released a full statement following the release of Lemonade, which people immediately assumed was about her. She continued that speculation when posting “good hair don’t care.”
“I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest. My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that,” Rachel said in a statement. “There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.

Consequently, online haters have targeted me and my daughter in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats. As a mother — and I know many mothers would agree — I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here — the issue of cyber bullying — and how it should not be tolerated by anyone.”

Are you shocked that Rachel left the event?
