Well this is disheartening! Although Zayn Malik & Gigi Hadid made a super hot couple while they lasted, HollywoodLife has EXCLUSIVELY learned that due to certain external factors, the young lovers were unfortunately NEVER meant to be. Yikes!

While Zayn Malik, 23, and Gigi Hadid‘s, 21, breakup came as a complete shock to some, others totally called it back when they first started dating seven months ago! And HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE on why the once-fiery couple was apparently doomed from day one — and had NO chance of making their relationship work longterm. And honestly, it makes SO much sense!

“The timing for Gigi & Zayn’s love made it doomed from the start,” an insider revealed to HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “Zayn had time for Gigi when they first got together after finishing his latest album, but now that things are busier, he doesn’t want to feel tied down in a relationship.” Ouch!
Talk about a major bummer, right? Zayn pretty much went from being the most attentive boyfriend on the planet to practically ignoring Gigi near the end. What a 180! But, according to our source, Zayn recognized that he wasn’t giving Gigi the attention she craved, which is a major reason why they decided to call it quits.

“He felt like he wasn’t giving Gigi the time she deserved,” our source dished. But another reason Zigi didn’t last? The former boybander was still mending his broken heart after splitting from his ex-fiancée, Perrie Edwards, 22. “Zayn made it clear to Gigi from the beginning that he had just gotten out of one relationship and didn’t want to get back into something too serious,” the insider added.

It’s all starting to add up now! It also looks like it ALL comes down to one major factor: timing. Apparently their relationship ended up blossoming at the exact wrong time. But if that’s true, the two could reunite sooner rather than later — who knows! After all, our source also added that “they understand they are young and are leaving on good terms. They will see each other again.” Aw! So there IS  hope!

But in the meantime, Gigi is leaning on besties, Taylor Swift, 26, and Kendall Jenner, 20, to get her through this latest heartbreak. Thank goodness for gal pals!
