“She’s curious, she’s a natural leader and she’s the best darn change maker I’ve ever met in my life,” Bill Clinton, 69, said at the DNC, in a keynote speech where he continued to gush over the official Democratic presidential nominee, his beloved, Hillary Clinton, 68.
Hillary “has done more positive change making” before she turned 30 than other politicians would do in a lifetime, according to Bill, a stark contrast to what Donald Trump, 70, Mike Pence, 57, and other Republicans ranted during the RNC. After repeating that Hillary is the “best darn change maker I’ve ever met in my life,” Bill assured every American that President Hillary Clinton will fight for a better future — no matter who they are.
Ultimately, Bill’s speech was a loving tribute to his “best friend,” a woman who still leaves him in “awe.” It was incredible to hear the sincere admiration this man has for Hillary. From the first time her “confidence and self-assurance” caught him by surprise, to the day she was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate, Bill said he was just stunned by the woman he married. He can’t wait to see her take the oath before beginning her new job in the Oval Office.
How far the country has come. Twenty years ago, it was Hillary making the case for Bill. At the 1996 DNC, Hillary spoke to the American public, urging them to pick her husband for the White House. “It takes a president who not only holds these beliefs but acts on them,” she said, per CBS News. “It takes Bill Clinton!” Now, according to Bill, it takes Hillary Clinton!
Though he has stood with her from the very beginning, Bill has been on the sidelines for the majority of Hill’s campaign. The DNC speech was his biggest chance to stand in the spotlight and show off the charisma that got him elected twice to the country’s highest office. Always the perfectionist, Bill’s speech is a labor of love.
Ahead of his appearance at the DNC, Bill likely wrote and worked “at the speech over and over again until he [got] it just right, Stan Greenberg of the Democratic Pollster said. Clearly, the Man From Hope had put his entire heart in his ode to his wife, best friend, and — as Bill hopes — the next president of the United States of America.
