Malia Obama Serenaded By Kendrick Lamar & President Obama For 18th Bday

Malia Obama turned 18 on July 4, and her dad made sure she celebrated in the most awesome way possible! With Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae in town to perform at the White House Fourth of July party, Malia got an epic serenade from the President and the superstar singers!

Not many 18 year olds get to say they spent their birthday like this! July 4th didn’t only mark President Barack Obama’s last Independence Day in the White House, but it was also his daughter, Malia Obama’s, 18th birthday — and he made sure she was the center of attention for at least part of the night. Watch the sweet video of him singing “Happy Birthday” to his little girl here!

“Because it’s a job of a father to embarrass his daughters, I’ve got one last job,” the President said, while on stage at the White House Fourth of July party with Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monae. “It just so happens that we celebrate our country’s birthday on the same day that we celebrate my oldest daughter’s birthday.”
From there, he led the crowd in singing “Happy Birthday” to the college-bound teenager, and after his performance, Malia walked on stage and gave her father an emotional hug. SOOO sweet!

Malia just graduated high school, and this summer, she’ll head to Spain for an internship with the U.S. Embassy there. The 18-year-old is already fluent in Spanish, so it’s the perfect opportunity for her!

As her dad finishes his second term as President, Malia will be on a gap year from school, and then she’ll follow in her parents’ footsteps by heading to Harvard in the fall of 2017. She certainly has a bright future ahead of her!

Folks, can you believe Malia is already 18?! Do you think she’ll do well at Harvard?
