Okay, something is going on here. Fans of beauty vlogger Marina Joyce took to Twitter on July 26 to share their concerns about her safety. The gorgeous YouTuber appears frail and bruised in several of her recent videos while her eyes lose focus and voice trails off frequently.
In her newest video called “Date Outfit Ideas,” Marina seems to look off camera at someone and do as they tell her. She seems nervous and distracted, especially when she turns around to show off an outfit and the backs of her arms are covered in big purple welts. Other photos show her knees and insides of her arms bruised as well. Another video titled “Every Day Makeup Tutorial” shows a large shotgun in the background, which has also concerned her followers.
Fans have begun to worry that someone may be forcing Marina to make the videos, as her demeanor and captions seem different than her regular personality and format. Others have speculated that she may just be depressed or struggling with drug use. She tried to pacify followers by saying “this is very sweet guys but im okay seriously <3 i love you all so much #savemarinajoyce.”
However, rumors have gotten more extreme as Marina liked a tweet that said “I really do hope you’re okay. If you’re in any danger but can’t really say, like this? We all wanna help as much as we can :(” Furthermore, she liked several tweets asking if she was in danger. People fear her Twitter is also being used by someone who is abusing, controlling or has abducted her.
Though this has been going on for about a week, #savemarinajoyce started trending on July 26 when she sent out a string of tweets and a video encouraging fans to go to an event at 6:30 in the morning at a place called “Bethnal Green,” which fans have described as “sketchy.”
Now fans fear that someone is trying to gather people in one place for some nefarious intention, and are calling police to alert them about the supposed event. We hope that everything turns out to be okay, and that Marina is safe!
