Mega Millions: When Will The Drawing Be For The $449 Million Jackpot?

It’s time to get your lucky numbers because the Mega Millions jackpot is now $449 million dollars. Someone could win the 7th largest lotto prize in US history on July 5, but when is the drawing? HollywoodLife.com has all the details!

Forget the Fourth of July, because the real fireworks are about to happen, thanks to the Mega Millions lottery. Someone’s wallet is about to explode as the jackpot has climbed to a jaw-dropping amount. If you’re wondering when the next multi-millionaire will be made, here’s all the need-to-know info.

The drawing for nearly half-a-billion dollars will take place on Tuesday, July 5 around 11:00 P.M. ET, according the Mega Millions official website. So, those on the East coast will be eagerly watching the late-night news for the drawing. After all, one lucky winner could walk away with nearly half-a-billion dollars. All it takes is a Mega Millions lotto ticket and some luck.

It turns out the numbers 20, 42, 42, 45 and 49 (with 14 as the Mega Ball) weren’t that lucky, because no one picked them for the July 1 drawing. Because there wasn’t a winner, this drawing is the third largest Mega Millions jackpot in the game’s history, according to CNBC. The biggest Mega Millions was $665 million drawing in 2012, which was split three-ways. The second largest Mega Millions jackpot, $648 million, was won by two people — one in California and another in Georgia. Lucky!

Of course, the Mega Millions jackpot has a long way to go if it wants to try and beat the $1.5 billion dollars that was up for grabs in the Powerball lottery in January 2016. Yes, that’s billion with a capital B. Three winning tickets – each with the numbers 8, 27, 34, 4 19 and Powerball 10 – were sold, with one in Tennessee, one in California and one in Florida.

Will these states producer the winner (or winners) of the $449 million Mega Millions? Lotto fans will have to wait and see. There’s one thing for certain – the winner won’t come from Nevada, Utah, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi or Alabama, since the Mega Millions isn’t held in those states! Uh-oh. Next time!
