It was a long time coming, but The Real Housewives of New Jersey and Teresa Giudice made big returns on July 10. Not only did the show return to TV after a nearly two-year hiatus, but Teresa also made her way back home after serving a year-long prison sentence. It was an emotional hour to say the least.
Teresa’s big return didn’t happen until the very end of the episode, but the buildup to that special moment was just as exciting. And as proven in this week’s episode, everyone’s lives kept moving forward while Teresa was behind bars.
Melissa Gorga has been busy with construction on a new boutique she’s opening. She hired husband Joe to do the renovation, but she’s going to be managing the store. They’ve also moved back into the house they built together, but no reason was given.
Throughout the hour, Melissa and Joe worried about whether Teresa would be allowed to come to their house for Christmas Eve dinner, but they quickly learned their request was approved. In an email from jail, Teresa even said she’d bring “sprinkle cookies!” (Get it? It’s funny. Ha. Ha.)
One person who wasn’t so excited about Teresa’s return, however, was Jacqueline Laurita. She told husband Chris she got a letter from Teresa, but after their recent drama with each other, she didn’t seem too interested in reuniting. In fact, she compared their friendship to throwing burning hot coffee in someone’s face. (Ouch!)
Later, Jacqueline threw an early Christmas party and invited the Gorgas, the Wakiles, and new housewives Dolores Catania and Siggy Flicker over for some food and drinks. Dolores has appeared on the show before — she’s good friends with Jacqueline, Teresa, Dina Manzo and Caroline — but this is her first time on the series as a cast member. Anyway, while together, they all discussed Teresa’s return and wished Joe and Melissa good luck.
Privately, Jacqueline and Melissa talked about Teresa’s return, and they both said they’re nervous about what lies ahead. Melissa said she’s hoping for a good relationship with Teresa, while Jacqueline didn’t seem sure of what she wants.
When Teresa eventually arrived home during the early morning hours of Dec. 22, 2015, she was greeted by big hugs from her husband and her four daughters. Gia and Teresa were the most emotional. But to see how everyone reacts when Teresa reunites with the other housewives, we’ll have to wait until next week. And boy, does it look like it’s going to be a dramatic season!
