Roman Reigns Returns To WWE After Drug Suspension For Battleground — Did He Win?

He was named and shamed after violating the WWE’s strict doping policy and given a stiff ban. But did Roman Reigns win back his Championship belt from Dean Ambrose at Battleground in his Triple-Threat-Match, also featuring Seth Rollins, on July 24? Click here to find out?

Well, it was an incredible match-up, that swung from side-to-side, as a winner looked almost impossible to determine. But it was Dean’s time once more, and he won in a thrilling contest!

From the offset, Roman forced Seth out the ring. Then it was time for Roman and Dean to go for each other, with lots of posturing and a couple of fierce right hands dictating the early blows. Dean, who really does put his body on the line in these contests, flung himself from the top rope and took out both Seth and Roman with one swift dive! All three wrestlers then ended up in the ring together and after a flurry of clotheslines they were all floored. They all go to their feet, and after more slugging, they were outside the ring.

Then, incredibly, Seth and Dean decided to work together to flatten Roman on the commentators table. But just as you thought all was well with Seth and Dean, Seth turned on his rival and smashed him with a chair, then did the same to Roman. Roman managed to work his way back into the ring, and he and Seth went head-to-head, with a couple of very near pins, which Roman just kicked out of in time. Finally, Roman Superhero punched Seth, had him pinned, only for Dean to interrupt proceedings with the Dirty Deeds on Roman to pin him down for the victory and retain his belt!

Elsewhere, it was an action-packed night in the WWE, with no fewer than two other title fights, including Intercontinental Champion The Miz in action against Darren Young and United States Champion Rusev taking on Zack Ryder.

Rusev and Zack came first on the fight card, and there was a lot of blows traded early on. But Rusev retained his title by forcing Zack into submission. After he tapped out, Rusev wasn’t finished though and kept punishing his competitor. Step forward Mojo Rawleyto save the day by scaring Rusev out the ring and protecting his pal from the Bulgarian fighter.

The Miz and Darren came up soon after, and more fun was had outside the ring than in it with this one. The Miz’s cheerleader and wife Maryse slapped Darren’s coach Bob Backlund in the chops, then pretended he hit her first. The Miz was distracted and immediately turned on Bob. Darren came from behind The Miz, and pinned him down to the ground, outside of the ring. They were all counted out, so The Miz stayed the champ.

John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass took on The Club in another pulsating match-up. Enzo is just a joy to watch in the ring, as he jumps off the top rope, shows incredible agility throughout and has a cheerleader in John, who loves all his moves. The real fun happened though when John and AJ Styles got into a slapping contest. Finally, with AJ sitting on the rope, John grabbed him, threw him to the canvas and pinned him down for the three count! Great job!

The New Day brought some comedy to proceedings as they faced off against merciless The Wyatt Family. It was a fierce contest, with the Wyatt exerting their power and strength, while the Tag Team Champs were as flexible as ever, dropping kicks and having fun. No title was on the line, just reputations, and it was the Wyatts who were just too much for The New Day.

Not to be outdone, the girls were also in action as Becky Lynch took on Natalya in a vicious match-up. Becky really brought the fire, and after a bad start, including a blow to her left knee, she fought back with some vicious clotheslines. Somehow she hung on in there, even though she took a pummeling. Natalya eventually got Becky in a sharp-shooter, and it was all over. She couldn’t take the pain, and tapped out!

While Sasha Banks & mystery partner Bayley, who was making her debut, took on Charlotte and Dana Brooke in an epic battle, but sadly the WWE Women’s Championship belt wasn’t on the line.

Charlotte and Dana jumped their rivals the moment they got in the ring and they bossed the fight throughout. However, the tide turned and Sasha got a march on Charlotte, locked in the Bank Statement and the champ tapped out! But it really was a night for the heavyweights, and the WWE have been spoiling us with all these awesome pay-per-view events. We’re getting more fights, more fun and we don’t know what’s going to happen next!
