Chris posted a picture of himself performing on Instagram, talking about his support of his buddy Lil Wayne at the rapper’s Aug. 27 show. “Supported my favorite rapper last night in NEW ORLEANS BIG BRO FOR LIFE @liltunechi if it wasn’t for him a lot of these fake ass rappers wouldn’t get an opportunity. Real friends don’t depend on record sales or cosigns. Day 1 family,” Chris captioned the pic. Hmm…Chris, what’s with the angsty words?
Whether the 27-year-old singer had Drake in mind when he shared his post, it certainly seemed like he was throwing shade at someone. And considering Drake, 29, had just admitted his love for Rihanna, 28, and gave her a kiss right on the VMAs stage, Drizzy could easily be the not-so-coincidental target. Plus, Chris has seemingly taken his alleged Insta post down already, as if he didn’t want to actually start any drama with Drake. Keep in mind that this is all speculative, but it’s definitely not far-fetched!
As you may recall, Chris and Drake have never been on the best of terms because of RiRi, whom has stolen the hearts of both men. The bad blood began in 2012 when the two had a bottle-throwing fight over Rihanna at a nightclub, and the beef has been on and off ever since. At the VMAs, Drake announced that he’s loved Rihanna since he was 22 years old, which was seven years ago — when Chris and Rihanna were dating. Perhaps Chris’ Instagram message was a reaction to Drake’s love declaration?
Whatever sparked Chris’ supposed post about “fake rappers,” he’s clearly frustrated with someone in the rap world. Chris isn’t typically one to stay quiet if he has an opinion to voice, so we may be seeing another social media post from him soon enough. Hopefully next time the person he’s calling out will be more clear…even if it is Drake!
