DICK’S Sporting Goods officially debuted their opening ceremonies ad “Gold in US,” on Aug. 4, and we have the chills.
The ad will air this Friday night, Aug.5, during the Opening Ceremony for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and we cannot wait. This commercial is so emotional and powerful — we love it!
We are obsessed with the new DICK’s Sporting Goods campaign and we seriously can’t stop watching. The ad, “centers on the insight that every human body contains 0.2 milligrams of gold, and campaign elements tell the story of the grit of seven U.S. Olympians, Paralympians and hopefuls as they attempt to dig out their own gold from within.”
The ad features several seasoned Olympians: Kerri Walsh-Jennings (Beach Volleyball), Claressa Shields (Boxing), Daryl Homer (Fencing), Danell Leyva (Gymnastics), Lex Gillette (Paralympic Long Jump), Laura Ryan (Diving) – currently a DICK’S employee, and Kristin Smith (Hammer Throw) – currently a DICK’s employee.
Lauren Hobart, Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of DICK’S Sporting Goods, said in a statement, “When we first heard the stat that gold is naturally found in the human body, we knew there was a special story to tell. The athletes featured in this spot showcase the strength and determination it takes to tap into the gold found within us all. All of us at DICK’S have been honored to support Team USA athletes on their quest for gold.”
In addition to launching the new “Gold in US” ad campaign, DICK’S will be donating $1000 to select youth sports organizations that are part of the USOC family through its “Every Medal” program — how amazing is that!?
We cannot wait for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics on August 5 — can you?!
