In the film, Justin Bieber, 22, would reportedly play a young, hopeful soccer player who gets discovered overnight and quickly becomes a sensation, according to The Mirror. Besides Cristiano Ronaldo, 31, a slew of other famous footballers are also expected to make cameos.
The movie is allegedly expected to start filming in March 2017, which gives the Biebs plenty of time to wrap up his Purpose tour, which ends this fall, before getting into this new venture. “The film is well into the pre-production stages and the hope is that Bieber will sign on in the coming weeks,” a source told The Mirror. “It is a great opportunity for him and could be one of the biggest films of 2017 if all of his fans and the fans of Ronaldo go to the cinema.”
Justin is no stranger to soccer, and has expressed interest in the sport in the past, so there’s a chance he’ll show off some of his own skills if he does sign on for the movie. Clint Eastwood is also reportedly being touted to play the 22-year-old’s grandfather.
Although Justin had a quick cameo in Zoolander 2, this would be his first real foray into acting with a starring role. As of now, the movie is set for release on Dec. 25, 2017, which is perfect timing ahead of the 2017 World Cup in Russia. We just hope the Biebs doesn’t completely put his music career on the back burner for this new passion!
