Kanye West liked it so much he put a ring on it…twice! Kim Kardashian, 35, sported a brand-new diamond ring on that finger as she stepped out for the 2016 MTV VMAs in NYC on Aug. 28, showing off her brand new bling, right on the red carpet. At first glance, it’s easy to mistake the sparkler for her stunning Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring from her hubby — but upon closer inspection, it’s clear that she was actually sporting an entirely new diamond! So, what’s the deal with her new ring?
Apparently Kim didn’t borrow the stunning new stone for the occasion, she was simply showing off a brand new gift from her devoted hubby, Kanye — and she was all smiles as she flashed the sparkling new stone, all while rocking the red carpet alongside her main man. People magazine reported that the ring was a gift from Yeezy. “The ring Kim is wearing is huge! It is an emerald cut diamond ring and appears to beset in a simple platinum setting.
The stone is absolutely stunning. Emerald cut diamonds can be very subtle and low key, but not this one! Looks like it could be close to 20 carats and is cut like a dream, giving it maximum brilliance,” celeb jeweler Shari Fabrikant of Robert Fabrikant Inc. in NYC told us.
From the ginormous size of the massive diamond to the dainty band and setting, it’s easy to mistake the new stone for her engagement ring — but the rings are actually completely different in design, as the new ring appears to have a halo and sits on a thinner band. The cut of the new diamond is also different, (although to an untrained eye it looks so similar to her original rock!) — and a ring like that comes with a hefty price tag! Shari added: “It is an elegant and beautiful ring. If the stone is a G VS2, the ring would run well over $1,500,000. Now that’s bling!”
