Well, HollywoodLife has EXCLUSIVELY learned why she blocked his attempt to smooch her.
“Drake has to work harder to claim Rihanna in that way, especially if he’s going to do it in front of the world. She would have loved to have sucked face with him, but doesn’t feel she can trust him exclusively.
Had she given in to smooching him on the lips, and then see him kiss another woman just a few weeks later, she would have been devastated. Things are good, really good between them. She likes what they have and do on the DL. But the time isn’t right for Rihanna to be official with him. The feelings aren’t all there yet,” a source tells HollywoodLife.
We’re so devastated to hear this because we literally thought Drake was going to get down on bended knee and propose to Rihanna at the VMAs!
Instead, Drake told Rihanna he’s been in love with her since he was 22, and then, when he handed her the Vanguard Award, he tried kissing her on the lips. She politely turned her head, so he ended up just kissing her on the cheek. It was still sweet, but we would have loved to see more!
At the very least, we’re just happy Drake tried to kiss Rihanna on the lips. We have a feeling his speech helped him win major points with RiRi and it’s probably only a matter of time before they really get together.
