Animal Kingdom: Woman, 23, Arrested For Bringing Loaded Gun To Disney Park

YIKES — this is pretty terrifying. A woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to bring a gun inside the Animal Kingdom theme park at Disney World on Oct. 24 — and she wasn’t the only one with a fire arm at one of the parks that day. Get the details here.

Baleigh Lynn Turner, 23, arrived at Animal Kingdom in Orlando around 11:20 in the morning on Oct 24 with a loaded gun in her backpack, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirms. The weapon was found at bag check, and an employee at the park called over authorities to examine the bag, which contained a .380 caliber Taurus handgun.

Police inquired about Baleigh’s concealed weapons permit, and she admitted she only had one for her home state of Alabama, according to WNCN. The site reports that the issuing agency confirmed Baleigh had a permit…but it expired back in January. She was arrested at the scene.

Earlier that day, a man from Louisiana was arrested at the nearby Epcot park in Disney after he tried to get inside with a loaded gun of his own. 61-year-old Michael C. Langston entered the park through the no-bag entrance, but was asked by security to walk through a metal detector, which is when he let them know about the firearm, a .380 automatic Smith & Wesson Bodyguard.

Baleigh was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a valid permit, while Michael’s charge was on suspicion of unlawful possession of a concealed firearm. He was also given a trespass warning that includes all Disney World parks.

Even with a permit, guns are not allowed in any Disney World parks, as there is a strict policy in place. Records show that Baleigh and Michael were both bailed out of jail after posting their $2,000 bonds.

Are you shocked by this story about what happened at Animal Kingdom? What do you think of Disney’s gun policies?
