After a nasty war of words, Ciara has moved to dismiss her libel case against ex Future — but does this mean the war is finally over? Here’s why she’s letting the case go!
It looks like Ciara, 30, won’t be collecting anything from Future, 32, in the libel case against her ex. The singer has reportedly filed legal documents to counter her original suit she filed back in Jan.
2016, following Future’s nasty comments he made about her on Twitter. It turns out Ciara couldn’t see her libel case through because she has been making so much money in her professional endeavors, that she hasn’t technically been harmed financially by Future’s rude remarks, according to TMZ.
Ciara’s legal team originally filed the case after Future’s crazy Twitter rant in which he claimed “this b*tch got control problems.” Ouch! His complaints were reportedly sparked after he complained about having “to go through lawyers” to see their son Future Zahir, 2. It’s no denying that Future said it, but to win a defamation, libel lawsuit, you have to prove that you’ve suffered financially from comments or actions committed. And that’s just not the case with Ciara. In fact, the singer is reportedly making even more than she was when Future tweeted the comment! SO bye bye libel case!
Even though the case has been thrown out, we wouldn’t say the two are reconciling just yet. Russell Wilson’s, 27, new bride is still taking the rapper to court in a “false light” case for the same Twitter rant. But instead of proving that she suffered financial losses, a “false light” suit only requires that Ciara show that her ex’s comments tarnished her image or made her appear to be something she is not. So there may be hope for Ciara in getting Future to pay up after all. But unfortunately that means the two probably won’t be joining hands and singing “Kumbaya” any time soon.
Do you think Ciara should just let the lawsuit go and reconcile with Future for the sake of their son? Let us know in the comments below!
