Clown Threats: Everything You Need To Know About The Viral Scare Leading To Arrests

Seriously, clowns are terrifying as is, but a new viral scare is causing terror on school campuses with threats of attacks and mayhem. ‘Clown threats’ have even led to multiple arrests and school closures so keep reading for everything you need to know about this scary trend.

Okay, this is not going anything to take away the stereotype that clowns are evil, as a new wave of viral “clown threats” has overtaken the U.S. They started as simple online scares in early summer as shots of clowns in grainy pics looking like they were up to no good started hitting the web, but then jumped to scary real life incidents of kids being chased by clowns in cities from Georgia to Pennsylvania. But now the clown threat trend is viral and causing mayhem for schools.

A Facebook page “Aint Clownin Around” announced,”We will be at all High Schools this Friday to either kidnap students or kill teachers going to they cars #WeNotClowninAround.” That caused high schools from Houston to West Virginia to be put on high alert Sept, 30 after they were then specifically named in related posts.

Three suburban Cincinnati districts were put on alert Sept. 30 due to clown threats involving death and mayhem! The Reading Community City School District cancelled classes after a man dressed as a clown tried to choke a woman and warned her that “I should just kill you now” and “Some students and teachers would wish they were never born at the Jr. and Sr. High School today.” Well, that was enough to keep kids home for the day!

In Miami Township north of Cincy, a student was arrested and taken from campus by police for making a threat about clowns on social media, while the night before on Sept, 29, a teenager was arrested for making clown threat warning of harm to Colerain High School students. Cincinnati wasn’t alone, as police near Dayton arrested a 15-year-old boy who posted an anonymous clown threat about killing students as they left a local high school. What is going on?!

While the local police departments have taken the threats seriously, they warn that with Halloween coming up this could just be a creepy new trend. They also point out that as these stories hit social media they totally tend to inspire copy cats so beware, a clown threat could be coming to your school!

Are YOU afraid of clowns? Has your school been hit by any clown threats?
