Derrick Rose, 28, and his two male friends were acquitted on Oct. 19 of gang raping a woman in 2013, and now, the world stands divided. Regardless of how you feel about the athlete’s rape case, there’s certainly one group of people who were happy to see Derrick in their courtroom — the jurors! After the trial, the men who found Derrick not liable for sexual assault took a PHOTO with the basketball player, who was smiling from ear to ear.
See, we’re not the only ones who think it’s totally bizarre that Derrick was chummy with the jurors two minutes after they found him innocent. Was the jury rigged with the athlete’s fans? This is the type of stuff that turns into a documentary like Making A Murderer or The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. As we saw in those series, a great deal of people butted heads over whether or not the client was guilty, and the same goes for Derrick’s trial.
It was reported that a woman accused Derrick and two male friends of raping her inside her LA apartment. The woman admitted that she had been drinking that night, but accused Derrick’s crew of drugging her before the assault. Here’s the problem, though, this woman was in a relationship with the New York Knicks athlete at the time, which prompted the jury to believe that the sex was consensual. The jury made the unanimous decision that his former girlfriend was simply out to get Derrick.
