DeSean Jackson Creates Cleats To Protest Police Killings: ‘I’ve Seen Enough’

Taking a stand. Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson created a unique set of cleats to protest the widespread police killings. So what exactly do the cleats look like, and how did he go about creating them? We have the pic, and all the details, here.

NFL star DeSean Jackson, 29, created a custom pair of cleats to protest the recent nationwide police killings of African Americans. In order to create the shoes so that he could wear them before his game against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 2, he commissioned artist Marcus Rivero to help him with the design. “I’ve seen enough yellow caution tape and it’s time for a stand and a change in our community and society,” the wide receiver told TMZ. “Senseless killings have been ongoing for awhile and police brutality in our black community … and as a young black leader with a stage and platform I’m starting awareness to help prevent these killings, and hopefully get justice to these cops who have taken lives of innocent human beings.”

As you can see in the photo, the cleats are white with blue streaks, combined with yellow ‘caution’ lines that wrap around the shoes. DeSean, who revealed that he plans on wearing the cleats during the game, also said that he wants to do more in the future. “I am also coming up with a master plan to start a movement,” he explained.

The most well-known recent police shooting involved Keith Lamont Scott, who was shot dead by Charlotte, North Carolina police on Sept. 20. His family maintains his innocence, while authorities have said that he did, indeed, have a weapon on him. Despite the horrible incident, we are happy to see DeSean take a stand in his own way.

What do you think of the cleats that DeSean created? Leave your thoughts below.
