Earthquake Advisory: California Residents Post Hilarious Memes After Warning Issued

Southern California residents have received a ominous warning of a potential, massive earthquake within the next few days, and some citizens are responding in hilarious ways. Click through to see the funniest memes about the SoCal earthquake advisory!

Sometimes you just have to laugh through the tears, right? Residents of Southern California received a disturbing earthquake advisory on September 30, something most people have said they’ve never experienced before. The advisory said that the area could suffer a potential 7.0 earthquake up until October 4 along the southern San Andreas fault. If you’re not up on your seismology, a 7.0 is humongous!

While freaking out about possibly experiencing one of the biggest earthquakes of their lives, people in SoCal posted tons of funny memes on Twitter to make themselves feel just a little bit better. They joked about leaving the state (and the country) forever, and some joked that this was going to be “the Big One.” If you’re not from California, the Big One is the legendary earthquake that will once and for all break the state off from the rest of the continent and float it off into the Pacific Ocean like one massive island.

Yeah, that’s not going to happen, at least in any realm of the foreseeable future, but it’s the favorite joke whenever a huge earthquake is projected. They’re ready, for better or worse, to sink with California when it falls into the sea! Check out the funniest memes from Californians:

It’s totally reasonable to keep freaking out, but they may rest easier knowing that seismologists have said that the risk of the 7.0 earthquake is growing smaller every day. That doesn’t mean that people should let their guard down at all; earthquake safety preparedness is key, and this should be treated as a serious event — no matter how funny the memes.
