Kanye West is fed up with Jay Z! In the middle of his Seattle concert on Oct. 19, Ye went on a full-on rant about Jay Z’s ‘bulls**t’ between Tidal and Apple, blaming Jay for destroying the chance for a second ‘Watch The Throne’ album. Watch a video of his rant right here!
The fire ignited when Kanye was introducing his line from Drake‘s song “Pop Style,” which was supposed to feature The Throne (Kanye and Jay Z together). But because of the competition, Tidal — and now Kanye is seemingly too bitter to work with Jay again.
“There will never be a Watch The Throne 2, you know why? Because that’s why I wasn’t on this song,” Kanye told the crowd. “I wasn’t on this song ’cause of Hov. ‘Cause of this Tidal-Apple bulls**t. And this s**t be getting me tight every time I perform this motherf****r. That y’all didn’t get what y’all were supposed to get with me and Drake on this song ’cause of some Tidal – Apple bulls**t.”
Tidal and Apple have had an ongoing battle because of their streaming services, fighting for subscribers in their own race to catch up to music streaming conglomerate Spotify. Since Jay Z owns Tidal, obviously he wouldn’t want to do anything with Apple that would put his own company in jeopardy. In Ye’s words, “it’s some political s**t, some s**t about percentages on songs,” which unfortunately jeopardizes some music projects like The Throne.
Before you side with Kanye, though, there’s an interesting point that needs to be addressed. Yes, Jay Z’s decision to not be on “Pop Style” was ultimately a Tidal vs. Apple thing, but a lot of it had to do with the fact that Meek Mill is signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation management company and Drake is heavily involved with Apple. Jay couldn’t make it seem like he was on Team Drake in the Drake/Meek feud! Considering Meek has no association with The Throne, maybe this means that Watch The Throne 2 can happen after all?! Kanye doesn’t seem to be into it anymore, but we’ll definitely keep holding out hope!
