In fact, the entire Obama fam is setting up their home base in D.C. post-presidency, and the reason is actually beyond sweet! Watch Barack explain it all here.
President Barack Obama, 55, made an epic appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Oct. 24. And while he kept audiences laughing with his hilarious “Mean Tweets” segment, the POTUS also got super real with host Jimmy Kimmel, 48, and revealed that when it comes to his hectic lifestyle, family ALWAYS comes first. And for Michelle Obama, 52, and daughters Malia, 18, and Sasha, 15, that means sticking together.
Addressing the “unusual” fact that the Obamas are deciding to stay in Washington D.C. even after Barack serves out his last term, Barack told Jimmy, “Sasha is a sophomore and she’s doing great in the school she currently attends, and our attitude is, if you have a teenager and you really want to make sure they never talk to you again, you pull them out of high school right in the middle of sophomore year.”
The President added, “Look, they’ve made so many sacrifices,” “They have!” Jimmy chimed in enthusiastically. “And they didn’t get to decide that.” Barack nodded and continued, “Exactly. I want to make sure they get the ability to have what’s best for them for a time.” Aw! We love that Barack and Michelle are totally putting Sasha first right now. As for the oldest Obama daughter, Malia’s heading off the college at Harvard University in the fall of 2017 — SO exciting!
“I’m like the old guy at the bar where you went to high school, he’s just kind of hanging around — his shirt’s buttoned too low, he still thinks he’s cool,” Obama said to Jimmy with a laugh. “Me and that guy, we’ll be at the Capital Hill bar!”
Tell us, folks — do you love that the Obamas are staying in DC until Sasha finishes school? Are you surprised by their decision?
