Shocking: Special Needs Boy, 10, ‘Deliberately’ Set On Fire By Bullies — Fighting For Life In Hospital

This is so horrific. A 10-year-old special needs boy, Kayden Culp, was reportedly burned by a group of boys who had been bullying him.

Kayden Culp, 10, was playing in a park in Texas on Oct. 2 with boys who he thought were his friends when one boy allegedly poured gasoline over him and another set him on fire. Kayden is currently fighting for his life in the hospital after suffering from severe burns and being put into a drug-induced coma.

Kayden’s mom, Trysten Hatchett, detailed her son’s condition on Oct. 5, revealing that the 10-year-old is “suffering from infections and is currently on medications to stabilize his heart,” WOIA reported. SO sad. We truly cannot believe how children could do this to another child. Trysten has spoken to local police about pressing charges against the boys she claims set her son on fire.

We certainly hope Kayden gets justice if what was done to him was in fact intentional. After all, the poor boy reportedly has burns covering about 20 percent of his whole body and even has to have a feeding tube. He is currently being sedated. Even worse, the burns stretch from near his belly button all the way up to his ears!

“My son is a special guy. He was rowdy and he liked to have fun,” Trysten told the Houston Chronicle. “He considered these guys his friends, but they would make fun of him and pick on him and tease him. He was usually the brunt of that kind of joke, but he kept playing with them.”
City spokeswoman Kaitlin Berry said she had heard “rumors” the young boy was set alight deliberately, but could not confirm whether that was actually the case because fire marshals are still investigating the tragic incident.

To help with medical costs, Kayden’s family has set up a fundraising page in the boy’s honor. So far they have raised just under $8,000. The page says it is, “asking for donations to help (the family) with expenses that will arise while they are in the hospital with Kayden.” Kayden displays autistic behavior, according to his family, but has not been officially diagnosed.
