Starbucks Unveils Beer-Infused Coffee: 5 Things To Know About The New Drink

Starbucks is putting a new spin Irish coffee — and we couldn’t be more stoked about it! The Pumpkin Spice Latte is SO last year, so it’s time to say hello to the NEW Espresso Cloud IPA. Here are five things to know about the drink!

1. Instead of whiskey, it uses BEER!

Whether you’re a coffee addict or an alcoholic, point is, you still need your daily fix. Unlike its whiskey-infused cousin, the Espresso Cloud IPA (India Pale Ale) uses beer in its mixture!

2. It all starts with a shot(glass).

So, how do they make this magical drink exactly? Well, the process begins with the orange-and-vanilla-flavored espresso being poured into a shot glass. The shot is then dropped into a bigger glass of craft IPA beer that’s topped with foamy coffee froth. Are you drooling yet?

3. It’s the new Pumpkin Spice Latte.

When the much-loved Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) was created, it pretty much blew the minds of every single coffee drinker out there. Not only is it delicious, it is also marks the beginning of a new season — Autumn. But now that the Espresso Cloud IPA is a thing, it’s become the new fan favorite.

4. No need to wait, it’s available NOW.

What else can we say except drive your beautiful self to the nearest Starbucks and ORDER THIS BABY! The single (semi) restriction is that this drink is only available on Starbuck’s evening menu (sorry, can’t get a buzz on before your morning shift).

5. It took a full year of trial and error before making it on the menu.

Good things take time, don’t they? Justin Burns-Beach, a member of the research and development team that created the Espresso Cloud IPA, reveals that it them a year to perfect the beverage — but it was all worth it. Justin didn’t want to waste the left over espresso in his drinks, so he thought, “what happens if you just pour [beer] in a little bit, and seeing the effect of that was just mind-blowing.”

Are YOU curios to try the Cloud Espresso IPA?
