Conor McGregor’s Fans Freak Out After He’s Forced To Give Up UFC Featherweight Title

Uh oh. After only two weeks of being the only concurrent holder of two divisional titles, the UFC announced Conor McGregor would be relinquishing his featherweight belt. Apparently, he ‘never agreed to that decision,’ so naturally, his fans are pissed! See their tweets below.

Conor McGregor was already the champion of the featherweight division when he defeated Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight crown at UFC 205 in early November. He then became the only concurrent holder of two divisional titles, but according to The Washington Post, UFC President Dana White said Conor would eventually have to pick one or the other — he couldn’t keep both.

However, no one thought he’d have to give one up so soon. And the only reason he must is because light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier pulled out of UFC 206, which was set to take place on Dec. 10.

You see, Daniel’s match with Anthony Johnson was supposed to be the main event, but because Daniel dropped out, UFC replaced the event with a featherweight showdown between Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway. The winner of THAT match will get Conor’s belt.

According to MMA Fighting, Conor “never agreed” to give his belt up, but the UFC says he has to. And now, fans are super upset — see their tweets below!
