Police confirm that two people are dead and four are wounded after a deadly shooting at a Kentucky flag football game, according to FOX News, Nov. 24. During a Thanksgiving day ball game referred to as the ” Juice Bowl,” gunshots were fired. As of right now, FOX says police do not have anyone in custody, no arrests have been made, and they are on the hunt for who could have committed the act of violence. The motive for the shooting is reportedly unclear at this time. Police responded to the 911 call around 1:30 PM.

Dwight Mitchell, Louisville Metro Police spokesman, told WDRB-TV that officers arriving at the park, where the football game was held, found two black males with gunshot wounds, the news outlet reports. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Dwight.

Four others have been taken to a hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries, the spokesman said. The identities of the six people involved have not been released.

One of the football coaches present during the shooting told WDRB-TV, “There are people who won’t make it home to the Thanksgiving table.” This is absolutely devastating.

When the shots were fired, youth athletes had just finished playing a football game, and two female teams were in the middle of their own flag football game, according to a report from The Courier-Journal.

Charlotte Waddell, a cousin of Muhammad Ali and an avid attendee to the Juice Bowl for years, told the newspaper, she had just finished speaking with Mayor Greg Fischer when she heard multiple gunshots. “This is the worst Thanksgiving ever, I’ll never be back,” she said, adding, “I’m pretty shaken up.” Wow.

Louisville Mayor Fischer tweeted his thoughts following the horrific shooting. He voiced his opinion on the “disrespect” of certain “people with guns.”
