Dana Carvey stopped by ‘Saturday Night Live’ for a surprise appearance on Nov. 5 and he definitely went the extra mile while portraying ‘Church Lady’!
The superstar had the audience totally captivated, leaving them in stitches with his comedic chops!
Dana Carvey, 61, absolutely nailed it on SNL‘s Nov. 5 episode, making sure to pull out all the stops for his surprise appearance. Fans nearly lost their minds when the comedian portrayed his iconic character known as “Church Lady.” Of course, she has a reputation for her conservative views and she wasn’t afraid to keep it real with Colin Jost during “Weekend Update.” When he asks who she’ll be voting for, she responded, “Jesus isn’t on the ballot.” Later she questions him by saying, “I suppose you’re going to support your favorite candidate Satan!” LOL! The actor last appeared as Church Lady in May, but his character goes all the way back to the mid 80s.
Benedict Cumberbatch, 40, also stopped by for several knee-slapping skits. It was obvious that he was going to deliver, especially after seeing the promos that aired days before his appearance. In one clip, he can be seen center stage alongside SNL star, Beck Bennett, talking about how they were going to try to avoid worrying about the election. The two then freak out while the actor follows suit, “It’s just getting to close. We’re really frightened.” Tonight, he showed off his singing skills for a hilarious opening, before later posing on a “Khool” toilet and playing on a game show.
Benedict’s appearance on the comedy show comes only one day after his highly anticipated Marvel movie Doctor Strange was released in theaters, so it was a big week for him! He definitely wowed the crowd with his acting skills, taking the iconic 8H stage shortly before Solange Knowles performed.
Next on the star-studded roster is Chris Rock, who will be serving as the guest host for the Nov. 12 show. In addition, A Tribe Called Quest also will stop by and they will likely play a song from their new album, which is their first in 18 years!
