Sherri Papini: Has ‘Integrity’ Of Kidnapping Case Been Compromised By Her Husband?

Yikes! It looks like Sherri Papini’s husband Keith may have jeopardized his wife’s abduction investigation by revealing sensitive info about her mysterious case!

After all, Keith has publicly spoken out about his wife’s condition post-kidnapping multiple times and, according to authorities, he’s said WAY too much without their permission!

Apparently, kidnapped mom Sherri Papini‘s, 34, husband Keith Papini has been a little TOO candid about what happened to his wife during her 22 days in captivity, according to Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko. For those who need a quick refresher, Sherri, a California mom-of-two, was allegedly abducted on Nov. 2 while jogging near her home. She was then released from her captors on Thanksgiving day, Nov.24.

And since her return, Keith has released many details to the media about her condition as well as recalling what she told him happened to her while she was being held in captivity. He spoke out candidly — even appearing in an interview with ABC News’ 20/20 — all without notifying law enforcement, which has reportedly compromised part of Sherri’s investigation.

“I did not know he was going to release this until a short time before I did a media interview,” Tom said at a news conference on Nov. 30. “Yes, I think with some of the details he has provided it could affect the integrity of the investigation.”

In a statement Keith released earlier this week, he revealed to the public that his wife was found on the side of a road beaten, chained, with a bag over her head, and weighing only 87 pounds. He wrote, “My first sight was my wife in a hospital bed, her face covered in bruises ranging from yellow to black because of repeated beatings, the bridge of her nose broken.”

Then later, in an interview with Good Morning America that aired on the morning of Nov. 30, Keith added that Sherri’s hair had been cut off and she had been branded all over her body. “I would think that was some sort of either an exertion of power and control and/or maybe some type of message that the brand contained,” Tom explained. “It is not a symbol, but it was a message.”

Over the last two days, Shasta County Sheriff’s major crimes investigators have interviewed Sherri, according to Tom. “She was cooperative and courageous” and did her best to provide a description of her captors, he said. So who did Sherri say was behind her brutal assault? Police say she described her captors as two women who spoke Spanish most of the time.

Sherri reportedly described one of the captors as having long curly hair, pierced ears, thin eyebrows and a thick accent. The second captor was described as being older, having straight black hair with some gray in it, and thick eyebrows. Deputies are currently working with a sketch artist to see if they can create portraits of the women Sherri described. However, only their eyes would likely be shown, according to Tom, as the women apparently had their faces covered most of the time.

“There’s still a lot of unknown about her assailants. However, we commend Sherri for her efforts to sit down with detectives and provide statements,” the sheriff said. What Sherri did say was that her captors were driving a dark-colored SUV and had a handgun. Officials added they are not aware of a motive for the apparent kidnapping. Tom also said it wasn’t clear if Sherri knew her abductors or not.

Tell us, folks — do you believe Sherri and Keith’s account of what happened? Or do you sense something fishy about their story?
