“I want to thank my always expressive “family” the @WWEUniverse for allowing me to have a #WrestleMania moment that I will NEVER forget!” John Cena tweeted on April 2, just hours after he popped the question to longtime girlfriend, Nikki Bella, 33.
It certainly was a moment to remember — John and Nikki had just completed an epic tag team match, during which they beat fellow power couple The Miz and Maryse, when the 39-year-old got down on one knee and asked the love of his life to marry him. Since John had previously been adamant about not wanting to get married again (he divorced his first wife in 2012), it was a HUGE step for him to propose, and we couldn’t be happier for the adorable couple!
“I have been waiting so long to ask you this,” John told Nikki, while presenting her with the massive sparkler. It’s likely that the 33-year-old knew the proposal was coming, but her reaction was still totally genuine, with her hands shaking as he put the ring on her finger.
Nikki has yet to address this exciting moment on social media, but her sister, Brie Bella, who couldn’t be at WrestleMania since she’s nine months pregnant, took to Instagram to gush over the news. “Such an incredible moment!!” she wrote. “I’m filled with such happiness for my sister!!!” No word yet on wedding plans for these two, but we can imagine it’ll probably be an incredibly extravagant affair!
